Kaua'i County Statehood Event

During the months of July, August and September of 2009, Kauai will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Statehood for Hawai'i by adding hula to their day and evening line ups of entertainment at the Lihue Airport.  

 
Visitors and residents who are arriving in Kaua'i or spending their last few memorable moments before departing the Garden Isle will experience Kauai’s warmth and aloha through hula and music. Every day from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. and from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. visitors and kama'aina alike will be serenaded with wonderful Hawaiian music brought to you by the Hawai'i Tourism Authority and hula dancing sponsored by the 50th Anniversary of Statehood Commission.  Kaua'i has a line up of 15 different dancers who have hula experience spanning the last 50 years.  On any day or evening you may have the pleasure of watching tutu showing you how it was done 40-50 years ago, or a young dancer who has just entered the hula scene.  Enjoy our commemoration of 50 Years of Hula at the Lihue Airport.
